If you aren’t satisfied with the appearance of your teeth but at the same time aren’t suffering from severe, immediate dental damage such as loose or broken teeth, then dental veneers just might be right for you!

Veneers Vs. Crowns

Veneers are similar to crowns in that they are designed to cover the exterior of teeth, but they differ in important ways – for instance, crowns are designed to cover the entire visible portion of a tooth, all the way to the gumline, while veneers only cover the facial surface of a tooth. Additionally, crowns can provide support to surrounding teeth and improve the integrity of the mouth as a whole, while veneers are primarily intended to improve the aesthetics of the teeth and shield the facial surface from any further damage to the tooth enamel. Finally, crowns may require that most of the remaining tooth be removed, while veneers only require the removal of a thin layer (.5 mm) of the tooth.

Do You Need Veneers?

Made from porcelain or a composite resin, veneers are non-porous and will not stain, which means your smile will shine for the life of the veneer, which is often 15 years or more! Veneers are also strong, durable and resilient while also being non-abrasive to your other teeth, making them an excellent solution for a variety of dental conditions. At Weisbard Dental, we often recommend veneers for patients who are experiencing moderate to severe discoloration, spacing issues, gaps between their teeth or have minor chips in their teeth. Veneers are also an excellent solution for patients who are simply seeking to strengthen or immediately whiten their teeth. However, because veneers do require the removal of a small layer of the natural teeth, patients who are experiencing only minor discoloration may opt to undergo a chemical whitening procedure instead.
