Love Your Smile!

According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), cosmetic dentistry has been shown to improve a person’s overall health and emotional well-being. An improved smile can boost a person’s self-image, making them more confident in their daily lives. We believe every dental procedure has three elements – fit, function, and aesthetics. Quality cosmetic dentistry takes all of these elements into consideration. At Weisbard Dental, cosmetic dentistry covers a multitude of steps like whitening, repairing, straightening, and enhancing your smiles and appearance.

Dr. Weisbard strongly believes all dentistry should fit right, function properly, and look terrific. In our office, this philosophy follows through from your back molars to your front teeth.

Our crowns, veneers, and fillings are all made with natural tooth-colored materials, the purpose being to recreate the natural dentition. Excellent aesthetic dentistry should not look like crowns or veneers. It should look natural, giving you a beautiful, healthy smile.

Smile Design

Smile Design

Before beginning cosmetic dentistry, it is important to have a plan. Dr. Weisbard recommends a smile design consultation. Communication is essential in understanding patient expectations and is critical to their success. Cosmetic dentistry can improve one’s self-esteem, self-image and self-confidence. Understanding patient expectations and looking at what is realistic is essential for an amazing outcome. A natural, healthy, pleasing smile is the initial goal of all dentistry.

The factors to be considered are:

  • The shape of your face
  • The symmetry of your face, lips and mouth
  • Different tints and coloration of your skin and lips
  • Your eye color
  • Your pupils and the horizontal line from canine to canine
  • The skeletal position of the jaw

We also consider very carefully:

  • The shape of your teeth
  • The color and translucency of your teeth
  • Characterizations in the teeth
  • Alignment of opposing and neighboring teeth

Our Process

Dr. Weisbard never starts a treatment without a solid plan which begins with taking photographs and measurements before any treatment. We can often correct crowding, open spaces, gaps, chips, and discolorations with restorative dentistry (veneers and/or crowns). With attention to detail and proper proportions, we can create your best smile. Excellence in dentistry, customer service, and genuine care and concern for our patients make us your first choice for aesthetic, health-centered dentistry.

Examples of Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry covers a multitude of procedures from teeth whitening to repairing, straightening, replacing, or enhancing the appearance of one’s teeth and smile. Most common is the use of porcelain veneers. These thin but durable restorations are a much more conservative approach than traditional crowns, preserving more natural tooth structure, and have become a popular way to enhance a smile. Tooth-colored natural fillings and natural porcelain crowns are also considered cosmetic dental procedures and make a huge difference in how your mouth looks and feels.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Dr. Weisbard uses composite fillings rather than the traditional silver amalgam, which is a combination of metals and mercury formed into an alloy. The composite that she uses is a tooth colored putty-like material that is set and hardened with a special light. These fillings are durable, can last for a long time, and blend in with the surrounding teeth.

Bonding

Dental bonding is a procedure that covers enamel and enamel defects. While cosmetic teeth bonding is a wonderful material, it may need periodic maintenance as it does have limitations. Unsupported composite resin is not as strong as porcelain and can stain, wear, and chip, and will require repairs and resurfacing.

Veneers

A cosmetic veneer is a thin shell of porcelain that covers the visible part of a tooth in order to preserve a large amount of the natural tooth structure. It wraps over the edge of the tooth to add strength and to help with retention of the veneer.
